Abstract:
The evolution toward sixth-generation (6G) networks marks a fundamental shift from transmitting data to supporting intelligent, task-oriented services. Grounded in the IMT-2030 framework, this talk presents a unified perspective on the capability evolution, architectural transformation, and core scientific bottlenecks shaping 6G. Beyond traditional metrics like peak data rate, future networks must integrate communication, computing, sensing, and control while embedding intelligence, security, resilience, and sustainability as intrinsic capabilities.
To realize this vision, systems must overcome key challenges in dynamic resource coordination, cascading multi-layer security risks, and the governance of autonomous AI decisions. Agentic AI will be highlighted as a primary pathway toward AI-native 6G networks, enabling entities to perceive environments, reason about task objectives, coordinate actions, and adapt under uncertainty. The talk concludes by examining key research questions and outlining future directions toward trustworthy, resilient, and autonomous 6G infrastructures.
